Mykala's New Bed

Mykala is a 16 years old girl that lives with her Grandmother. She has a diagnosis of both cerebral palsy and hydrocephalus. Mykala had her original bed for over 13 years, which had acquired the normal wear and tear of use. Unfortunately, it was also found to be insufficient in meeting the safety needs that she required to comfortably and safely sleep each night. Some of the issues that Mykala faced with her old bed was that it was unstable with open rails, making it hazardous for arm movement. There was also an issue with removable padding which could be mispositioned, running the risk of suffocation. All of which kept Mykala’s Grandmother up with many restless nights. To help relieve Mykala (and her Grandma), Mykala’s special wish was to receive a new SafeSleepTall Bed. This provided a much safer, and more comfortable setting for rest. Now, both Mykala and Grandma sleep peacefully each and every night. They are so happy to have been able to work with A Special Wish Chicago! Sweet dreams, Mykala!
