Cayden was born a beautiful little baby boy, smiling, laughing, and so observant.  He brought great joy to his family. It was noted that he loves music, especially his mama's singing!  He not only loves music, but is also a great snuggler. 

At an early age, Cayden was diagnosed with torticollis, a simple physical condition that can be fixed with physical therapy.  As a few months passed, Cayden's success began to decline and the usual skills, abilities, and milestones for his age were slowly missed. As any parent would, Crystal and Christian became concerned and fought for their son. Together, after many different doctors, many appointments, and many calls and follow-ups, they were given news that no one could begin to comprehend. At 19 months old, Cayden was diagnosed with Sandhoff disease, a rare form of Leukodystrophy.  Unfortunately, this is often a fatal degenerative disease of the brain. 

When the opportunity arose for Cayden to be granted a wish, there was no question that his special wish was going to be a trip to Disney. Cayden has always had a  love for music, smiling the moment he hears a Disney soundtrack play.  His favorite songs are from Moana and Coco!  The team at  A Special Wish Chicago wanted to make sure that Cayden and his parents would have that opportunity to experience his special adventure.  In May of 2022, Cayden and his family embarked on the trip of their lives. Give Kids the World Village was the destination chosen to celebrate Cayden and his parents.  

It has been a journey of strength for Cayden and his parents since he was born. Strength of an innocent little baby, strength of his parents, and strength of the village of love around him that has helped him in his young life.  We were honored to be able to contribute, in some small way, to this very deserving family.
